Artgasm of Duality

Things are getting hot here in Miami, and I'm not talking about the weather, I'm referring to the very anticipated Art Basel season! Yeap, Art Basel has become a season, it's not just a show or an art fair anymore. The entire world now looks forward to this wildly coveted, juicy and extravagant affair. And it's perfect, the weather is crisp, the energy is high and that artists are in full motion.

This weekend I hit up a solo exhibit of Miami-based Korean artist, Jiae Hwang. The exhibit, named RISE ABOVE, was presented by CENTRAL FINE Miami. I was overcome and moved by the thoughtful yet modest passive-aggressiveness found in her work - the triviality and the collective expressions. My personal interpretation of her work.....well, the best way to describe it is, an Artgasm of Duality. Perhaps you can get a sense of my interpretation from the pictures above. Hope you enjoy!

Check out her exhibit - it will be running through January 20th at Central Fine - 6865 Bay Drive #6, Miami Beach, 33141.

Stay tuned for more!

A PG Version of What's Happening in American Farms. Some Farmers Need to Grow a Pair & Grow Some Heart

In a world where there's so much good and so much love, how can there be so much bad and so much pain? The type of bad that cares of nothing, that lacks compassion in every sense. The type that finds joy in evil and glorifies inhumanity.

This is a very short film I just came across - and what a big impact it had on me. I wanted to share it in the hopes that the collective impact can help in bringing awareness, removing the blindness, and just inspiring change. As I sit and write this, humbled, I'm thinking of what I can do in my power to change this... to make it better. Why all this suffering, and why all the torture. It makes me livid to think about the horrific reality and the beasts behind this, that in my eyes, don't deserve any mercy.

I hope this brief glimpse to this harsh reality creates some sense of compassion that can, even in the smallest way, make a shift in the way we see, act and react to humanity.

Feels So Good - Another Awesome Volunteer Session at Holtz Children's Hospital

Last nigh a few volunteers and I spent two wonderful hours with the kids at Holtz Children's Hospital. It was just
the right dose of love, smiles and giggles to make our day shine. We played connect four, painted and personalized our
own bags, and did some puzzles. It was a fun and exciting night. The best part of all is the feeling you get when the kids
ask you to stay. You just want to melt!

If you'd like to join us for one of the next volunteer sessions, visit the Little Lighthouse Foundation website. Pick from
a number of wonderful volunteer opportunities such as Feeding the Homeless, Story Time, or hanging out with the kids
at the hospital. You can't go wrong.

YUM - With Food like this Who Needs Meat: Delicious Vegan, Gluten-free Recipes

Who said you have to be a vegan or have a gluten intolerance to enjoy Vegan Gluten-Free food?!? Well, I'm not a vegan per se but I have come to LOVE and appreciate the earthy delicious taste and life-altering benefits of vegan food. Who would have thought that I could ever live without meat or dairy? Not I, not a chance, not ever.

But in the last two years, thanks to some beautiful friends of mine and my deep genuine desire to heal myself (from my Lupus condition), I've become inclined to learn more about the reasons behind the choices they made to become vegan, and in some of their cases, gluten-free. I've become intrigued and fascinated by what I've learned, much with regard to the inhumanity and cruelty that animals and humans have to endure in order to satisfy this misconceived notion - that we need meat and dairy in order to live healthy, well-balanced lives. In addition to this, I've been shaken to my core with the enormity of information regarding the benefits of eating a plant-based, gluten-free diet and alternatively, the damaging effects of eating meat and dairy, at least for many of us.

Although I'm still somewhat of a novice and have much to learn, I feel strongly about spreading the message that the right foods can heal us and along the way, make our world a sweeter place to live. And like I said before, although I'm not a vegan, I do eat a mostly vegan, plant-based diet; I do it because it's a gift I want to give to myself, mostly because I've experienced firsthand the amazing and wonderful effects it's had on my life, my health, my skin and my energy level. So YAAAAYYY to this beautiful, underrated movement. And so I wanted to share with you all some delicious vegan, gluten-free recipes which I've found online and that could turn your world upside down like it did mine. Most photos will take you to a link where you will find the recipes. I hope you enjoy and eat your way to a better and healthier you......and a sweeter, kinder world.

A Samba Birthday Celebration

Last night we celebrated my beautiful friend Anne's 36th birthday at the new Sushi Samba in Coral Gables. She looked so beautiful and so happy. It was an amazing night spent with my close friends, enjoying great food and delicious drinks.  It was also an evening of special announcements and the usual load of laughs, silliness and inappropriate jokes (hihihi....). I wouldn't have it any other way!

But here's to my good friend - a person with such a beautiful and warm heart. I love you very much and wish you a very Happy Birthday and a year full of many great memories and surprises.
